Dosbarth St Cadoc - Miss Jones

I'm Miss Jones. I am a year 2 teacher in Dosbarth St Cadoc.

I like reading and I really like sharing stories with my class. It is my favourite time of day.

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to school.

This year is going to be so exciting with all the new things that we will be learning together.

Keep looking at our page to find out the adventures we have been on in our class.

Train Update

Here is our class update on the trains.  A group of our friends went to Sophia Gardens to take part in the engineers of the future.  They took their trains, tested them and had the opportunity to talk to train engineers about their designs.  We are so proud of them and they represented our class so fantastically!

Topic News

We've completed our trains and have been testing them.  How far do our trains travel on different surfaces?  Do our trains travel in a straight line?  Lots of interesting discussion during our investigation.

Topic News

In our Catholic Social Teaching Lesson we are learning about Sid the Sheep and how he represents subsidiarity.  We have been learning how it is important to show we have a voice and we need to use it!

In Religion we have been learning about mercy and forgiveness.  A group of pupils chose to create a dance using the Kyrie Eleison.  They worked with Mrs Gibbs to create this beautiful piece of dance.

We are looking forward to National Science Week!

We have been exploring the Bay but from the viewpoint of a tourist.  We have been very busy exploring the Bay.

We have followed the Mermaid Quay Art Trail and spotted lots of sculptures that we had seen before but didn't know anything about.  We also found some hidden art pieces.

We have been looking at maps and understanding how to read them and following a key.

Our book focus this week has been Rumpelstiltskin. We have been learning some new weaving skills just like Rumpelstiltskin would have used to create hanging decorations.
We were amazed to learn that there are three other places in the world called Cardiff! We made fact posters about these places and our own city.
We have been helping to share sheep between two fields. We hope the farmers are happy with our work!
